A meeting reminder for ADHD brains
If you have ADHD, a calendar notification is easy to dismiss mid-hyperfocus and forget a second later. Just In Time is a Mac menubar app that gives you a heads-up before each Google Calendar meeting, then covers your screen 2 minutes before it starts - a reminder you cannot work through.
Why ordinary reminders don't break through
Time blindness means the gap between “in 15 minutes” and “it started 5 minutes ago” can vanish without you feeling it. Hyperfocus makes it worse: a small banner in the corner of the screen gets dismissed on autopilot, and the meeting is gone from your mind before your hand is back on the keyboard.
The reminder did its job on paper. It just never reached you. What helps is a reminder that interrupts the task instead of politely waiting beside it.
A reminder that escalates
- Any time: your next meeting, and how long until it starts, is one click away in the menubar.
- 10 minutes before: a heads-up with a sound, so the switch does not ambush you.
- 2 minutes before: a full-screen block you cannot miss, over every app - including full-screen ones - until you join, snooze or dismiss it.
The timings are yours to change, so you can give yourself a longer runway before meetings that need prep.
Fewer steps between you and the call
When the invite has a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link, the block has a Join Meeting button. No digging through the calendar for the link while the clock runs.
If you need a moment, snooze for 1 minute, 5 minutes or until the meeting starts - but never past the start time.
Private and low-maintenance
Connect your Google Calendar once, with read-only access. Just In Time launches at login and has no server: your events stay on your Mac. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 12 Monterey or later.
Common questions
Why do people with ADHD miss meetings even with calendar reminders?
Time blindness and hyperfocus make it hard to notice time passing, and a notification banner is easy to dismiss on autopilot mid-task. The reminder technically fired, but it never broke through. A reminder that interrupts the screen is much harder to ignore.
What kind of meeting reminder works for ADHD?
One that escalates and interrupts: an early heads-up so the transition does not come as a shock, then something you physically cannot work through - such as a full-screen block - right before the meeting starts.
Is Just In Time a medical or treatment tool?
No. It is a productivity app for Mac that makes meeting start times hard to miss. It is not a treatment for ADHD.
